Quill and Tankard, Hightower And Citadel

This is the common room of the Quill and Tankard, that famous Oldtown Inn that has never closed in five hundred years. The building is a noble old half-timber structure with plastered stone between the enormous old black beams. It sits on a small rock of an island at the edge of the Honeywine River, and is accessed by a little footbridge, or by water-taxi.

Rivermen and seamen, smiths and singers, priests and princes, Lords and sellswords, travelers both noble and small, and the novices and acolytes of the Citadel - all come for a taste of the fearsomely strong apple cider that makes this inn so beloved by Oldtown's people. There is a pleasant buzz of chatter, cups and tankards being filled and refilled, and general laughter.

The fire in the hearth allows for a merry glow and a comfortable warmth from Oldtown's breezy, misty cobblestone streets. Benches and tables offer places to sit, and there is a deliciously toothsome smell in the air of food from the back.

!!! Currently at least two City Watchmen are stationed here at all times. They will be quick to arrest those who offer violence to anyone. !!!

The Bull Fish had been absent from Oldtown for a few days, no actually over a week. After returning a day ago, the Tully heir has finally found his way back to his favorite tavern, the Quill and Tankard. He sits at a table in a corner, only two retainers keeping him company as he sips from a tankard of the famous apple cider. Whoever will look at him will observe him to look slightly changed. Gone is the stubble that used to cover his chin and cheeks, and he looks a tad younger, healthier, mayhaps having lost a bit of weight as well. At the moment he looks just tired and a touch sleepy as he leans back in his chair with a lazy yawn.

The door to the Quill and Tankard opens and Shayla saunters in with a gentle sway of her hips. She glances around breifly but does not puase as she makes her way to the bar. "Wine please." She calls out to the barkeep before her eyes sweep over those here. She spots Thadeus in the corner but it takes her a moment before she recognizes him. When she does a faint yet playful little smile appears on her lips. "Save that wine for me will you? I think your establishment needs to be livened up a little." She speaks to the barkeep again and then she makes her way to a central point in the room. She glances around the room a brief moment before she begins to dance.

<FS3> Shayla rolls Dancing: Amazing Success.

A slightly bored look is shot in the direction of the door as it opens, but soon recognition will dawn upon the Tully and he straightens, the smile on his face amused and maybe intrigued, when he notices her glance and hears her remark to the barkeep. Watching her engage into one of her dances, he is by now so well acquainted with, this one does take him by surprise though, as he has never seen her with so much skill before. His head leans on the palm of his hand, supported by his elbow on the table as he continues to sip from his tankard, after offering his two retainers a faint shrug. "I am just drinking and enjoying the show," he smiles in mock innocence, before his attention returns to the comely dancer.

The dance is quite lively and rather risque at the same time. A perfect combination of seductive and eye catching. Shayla's feet move gracefully in a complicated set of steps that combined with her swaying hips has almost every man in the room looking her way. She spins about gracefully her skirt flying to reveal a teasing view of her legs. After the spin she locks her eyes with the Tully heir and begins to dance his way with a wicked little smirk on her lips. She spins again so she is facing Thadeus, standing just out of his reach and then she bends forward slightly running a hand teasingly over her breasts and down her side. She winks at him playfully and then continues her dance around his table.

Grey-blue eyes will follow the movements of the dancer with an attentive stare, shifting to those legs that are accidentally bared whilst she spins and then to the comely front of her that is presented to him in such an enticing manner. Thadeus will respond to the wink with an amused smirk. "So it is me you have singled out today to pay for your dance, fair Shayla?", he inquires, when she once again begins to twirl about his table.

A soft laugh leaves Shayla's lips at the question. She spins again her hips swaying slowly as she dances a bit closer. Her deep blue gaze is locked with the Tully's grey-blue and then those eyes slip downward looking him over with a sweet smile. Her tone is soft as she replies not pausing her dance just yet. "If you wish to pay that is your choice Lord Thadeus. I would certainly appreciate it but I would never dream of demanding anything of you. It all depends on whether or not you feel my skills warrant a reward doesn't it?" She smirks and dances closer and closer leaning in a bit to give him a teasing view down the front of her dress. She smells lightly of lavender and there is a spark of mischief in her eyes as performs another complicated set of steps and a final little spin before dropping into a low curtsey right in front of Thadeus's chair.

The Tully heir will enjoy the show for as long as it lasts, his gaze playfully drifting down the view she offers him. "I will pay. For the dance.", he affirms, smiling as she curtseys before him. "And maybe a drink or two, if you like.", he adds after a moment, shooing his retainers to a nearby table with a mere look, and then offering her one of the suddenly so vacant seats. "Miss Shayla. You are doing well here in Oldtown, I suppose?", Thadeus muses as he takes a sip from his cider.

Shayla rises from her curtsey and smiles warmly at the Tully heir. "You are most generous Lord Thadeus. I would not mind having a drink, dancing always seems to make me thirsty." She settles into one of the now empty chairs with grace. The question has her raising a brow and a thoughtful look crossing her features. "I am doing…well enough I suppose. Things could be better but they could also be much worse. What of you my Lord? Have you been well lately?"

"Good to hear," Thadeus replies rather unspecifically to her reply about how she is faring. "What would you like to drink? Wine? Cider? Ale?", inquired as he waves a serving wench over and the order is placed. Her question does not make him look thoughtful at all, but pleased rather. "I have been well, spending a few days off in the country. It has been quite relaxing. The air certainly is much better there." Offering smalltalk to the comely woman keeping him company at his table. "I wanted to speak to you, Miss Shayla, about a rather… um delicate matter," he remarks next, leaning a bit closer, and adjustung his tone accordingly.

"Some wine would be wonderful thank you." Shayla replies to the question about what she would like to drink. She listens with interest and smiles warmly when he mentions his recent stay in the country. "That does sound relaxing. I enjoy going for a ride about the countryside on occasion myself." The Tully's next remark has her raising an eyebrow and looking curious. She leans in a bit as well and lower her tone. "Of course Lord Thadeus. You may speak with me about anything you wish. What is this matter?"

Thadeus almost chokes on his cider, at Shayla's remark about going for a ride in the country, finding something in her words quite amusing or disturbing perhaps. His composure is swiftly regained however and he shrugs. "The country is the country." As if that would explain everything. Relaxing a bit when she leans in to hear about what he wishes to talk to her about, the Tully will clear his throat, before he replies with a question: "You are aware of my situation, Miss Shayla?"

Shayla raises a brow at Thadeus's reaction to her statment. "I simply enjoy riding horseback and I rarely get the chance. Is that so startling?" The question has her looking a bit curious and she replies in a low tone. "Do you mean your betrothal to the Princess Cerys or is there something else going on I am not yet aware of?" She studies him intently for a moment her blue eyes assessing him carefully. She seems calm but there is a hint of curiousity to her gaze as well.

"Oh no… not startling at all!" Thadeus is quick to assure. "Maybe I sensed a bit of ambiguity there in your remark, that's all." He smiles, nodding to the serving girl when she arrives with Shayla's wine. "The betrothal, of course!", he replies at a low volume in the dancer's direction. "To Princess Cerys." The mention of her name has his gaze turn a bit thoughtful at once. "You know… I fear she may not take it well to see you act like you have acted towards me… on the tourney field."

Shayla looks thoughtful a moment accepting the wine and taking a slow sip from it. She considers Thadeus a moment and then she replies quietly. "I see…I would not wish to cause you trouble. I will refrain from such behavior in the future. Though if you also wish me to keep my distance from you I can accept that as well." She looks to him and bites down on her lower lip. Her words are just above a whisper now. "I enjoy your company Lord Thadeus make no mistake but I will also respect whatever you decide in regards to this matter."

A strange thing happens when Thadeus witnesses Shayla's reaction. His gaze becomes concerned and almost apologetic. "This is about how I will be viewed in public. Cerys was not pleased about what happened on that day - even if there didn't really happen anything. I would not want to jeopardize the betrothal my father was so eager to arrange." He sighs. "As for the distance… Aye, that would be required, at least for the moment." Looking to her when she almost whispers, he will offer her a warm smile. "I enjoyed our moment too. Alas. It must not become open knowledge.", he murmurs, only loud enough for her to hear.
