Overview

Settled in the sharp pinnacles of the Red Mountains of Dorne at the point where the confluence of two rivers form the Torentine is the castle of Blackmont, the seat of House Blackmont. It sits upriver from the House Dayne seats of High Hermitage, and Starfall. A major house of those of Dorne, their men defend the jagged walks of the Red Mountains from invasion.

As guardians of the border, they have spent centuries in on and off conflict with the Reach to the west and the Stormlands to the north. Their notoriety has grown in Westeros since the events of the Razing of Wickham's Nest and the Trial of the Seven.

Political Relations

House Manwoody — A close friendship between fathers led to a marriage of their son and daughter, further tightening the bond between the two houses.

House Fowler — Though a match of marriage was not made between Alaeyna Fowler and Arnau Blackmont, the houses are often allied. Both are charged with guarding mountain passes from invasion.

House Dayne — Blackmont's neighbors to the South.

House Qorgyle — The Lady of House Blackmont is formerly a Qorgyle.

House Cockshaw — Relations are very strained between the two Houses, Blackmont believed to be behind the death of the Cockshaw heir and Cockshaw believed by some to have taken revenge by raiding the Blackmont holding of the Red Rookery. A marriage between the two houses in the upcoming year is supposed to settle grievances.

House Oakheart — A peace by marriage was supposed to be had after the death of the former Blackmont Lord and Heir by the hands of this House following the death of an Oakheart in war. There is very little peace to be found.
