Once a Warrior, Now a Father
Chris Hemsworth
Chris Hemsworth as Gareth of Oldtown
Name: Gareth of Oldtown
Aliases: Gareth Stormcrow, Gareth Greenblood
Faction: The Reach
Organization: House Dayne
Occupation: Servant of Ser Osric Dayne
Rank: Smallfolk
Age: Jul 26 91 (29)

This man is large and impressive in stature, standing well over six feet. His features are well tanned, which sets off his shoulder-length dirty blonde hair even more, matched by a close-kept beard. His blue eyes, the color of a stormy river, have an intenseness to them in almost any situation. His hands, when glimpsed, are extremely calloused, and there seems to be little if any fat to any part of him. He typically dresses in earthtones, and there is little that ever stands out about his wardrobe. All his garments, few as they are, are well worn, and lovingly mended - save for the more recent tears, in which the stitching is rougher, more practical. Around his neck he wears a simple drawstring pouch, which seems to never leave his person.

Born as the son of a woodworker in Oldtown, Gareth always felt he was destined for more. It drove him to run away from home at the tender age of twelve in search of glory and adventure. Adventure he had, in spades, but glory is a difficult mistress to find, let alone keep ahold of. Now, after eighteen years abroad, the prodigal son has returned, older if not wiser, and with two children - and a goat - in tow. What his destiny holds now is anyone's guess. Certainly, Gareth himself does not know.

RP Hooks

  • Family: Gareth has a brother and a sister who have, since he left, fallen on hard times. If you are interested in either of these roles, please contact Gareth via +mail or page.
  • Former Sellsword: Gareth was a sellsword for over a decade in the Free Cities, and served with the Free Company known as the Stormcrows. In the later years he was contracted with him, he became something of a legend among their number, a swordsman without equal, and was honored with the name Gareth Stormcrow. He became the epitome of everything they aspired to, though he never took the reigns of Captaincy for himself. If you spent time among the Free Companies or had cause to employ them, there is a chance you heard the name if not met the man himself. If you are interested in exploring this hook, please contact Gareth in game via +mail or page.
  • Greenblood Orphans: For the last several years, Gareth has been living among the Greenblood Orphans, a nomadic group who live on houseboats that ply the waters of the Greenblood River in Dorne. If you have might have reason to have interacted with the Orphans, or might have found yourself in a riverside town or keep within Dorne, you might have spotted Gareth and his Orphan wife. Deceased Wife - My first Sarya. My love. I miss you more then I can ever express. You live on in our children, and though they are the reason I continue on, it also makes it that much harder.

Son - Of all the tales I told your mother, she loved Symeon Star-Eyes the most. Hence your name. Already you surprise me with your fortitude and bravery. You survived our trek to Plankytown, never once complaining. You are destined for great things, my son.

Daughter - Perhaps it was morbid to name you for your mother, but in you, I see her, as young as you are. You and your brother are the last sparks of her I have left, and I will protect you both, no matter what.

Royal Acquaintance - I do not know her well, and what rumors I heard of her are unsettling, but so far I've found the Lady herself to be kind and generous, especially when it comes to my children. I can relate to the sadness that she holds, even though we are worlds apart.

Employer - It was both surprising and fortuitous to have made the acquaintance of none other then the Sword of the Morning. Unlike most situations, many of the stories and songs I've heard of him may well be true. He seems honorable and level-headed and every bit the knight that Ser Ector never was. He accepts that I've bound my sword and seeks to employ me regardless. I am not sure if I will ever be truly deserving of the service that he has offered, but I will try, for my children's sake if not my own.
